VCA urban downhill race 2008
Na pobřeží Chile, přesněji v přístavním městě
Valparaiso, zvaném také jako město tisíce schodů, se
uskutečnil závod VCA urban downhill race. Byl to závod na
způsob evropského Red Bull DownTown Lisabon, tedy sjezd v ulicích města. Do
závodu bylo pozváno 60 jezdců, většina z nich z jihoamerického
kontinentu až na pár sjezdařů ze ostatního světa jako Brendan
Fairclough, Steve Smith nebo Micayla
Gatto.
Závod má už poměrně dlouhou tradici, první ročník se zde odehrál už v roce 2003 a stal se místní tradicí. Letos se kolem trati sešlo úctyhodných 8000 diváků. Jen pro zajímavost, loňský ročník nevyhrál nikdo jiný než Cedric Gracia.
Trať měřila okolo 2 km, může se to zdát málo, ale bylo zde několik
šlapavých úseku, mnoho schodů a pár skoků. Trať byla celkově dost
technická a pokud jezdec udělal chybu, ztratil jakoukoliv šanci na dobré
umístění.
Ostatně nejlepší obrázek si uděláte z následujícího videa.
Všem nakonec vypálil rybník chilliský sjezdař Antonio Leiva s časem 2:40.10, který prolétl třať v průměrné rychlosti 45 km/h. Závod byl v naprosté režii domácích, prvních 20 příček obsadilo 17 domácích jezdců. Nejlepším zahraničním jezdcem se stal kanaďan Steve Smith, který obsadil 3. místo se ztrátou 10s na vítěze.
Mezi děvčaty vyhrála velice talentovaná, 16ti letá, brazilka Luana Oliveira.
